Schools of Light is a children’s education charity that empowers schools in developing nations to be a bright, strong, ray of light in their community.

 

We believe in the transformative power of education to help break the cycle of poverty. We work with local partners and school communities in developing nations to provide support in the form of infrastructure, and student and teacher resources.

Across the world over 250 million children do not have proper access to education. Schools in developing nations often lack the basic resources and infrastructure needed. We want to provide support to these schools so that children can have safe spaces to be educated and begin their bright futures.

Current Projects

Nourish & Equip, Malaysia

We are partnering with Destiny School Malaysia to provide food and stationery for their students!

Rice – these bags of rice will provide lunch for 180 refugee students, who come to school without having any breakfast or lunch. Full stomachs and nutritious food will help these students concentrate during the school day. With your help we will provide 25 bags of rice (that’s 250kg of rice!). For just $15, you can fund a 10kg bag.

Stationery - we are also providing stationary packs for teachers and their classes! These packs include: textbooks, exercise books, whiteboard markers, pencils, cardboard/paper supplies, and stamps. With your help we can make this happen! Each pack costs $50 and will make a huge difference in these classrooms.

Recent Projects

  • Block Classroom, Indonesia

    We have built a sustainable classroom, in partnership with Classroom of Hope, in Lombok Indonesia! The classroom is built from recycled plastic waste and is earthquake resistant, providing a safe and motivating learning environment.

  • School Library, the Philippines

    We partnered with Guadalupe Elementary School in Cebu to relocate and resource their library. This new library, for approx. 5,000 students, is a game-changer for literacy as it gives the students easy access to books and learning resources, and provides an opportunity to further the school’s literacy program.
